BANNER DECORATING COMPETITION
Who Can Participate?
Anyone can participate. Each team must submit one online application by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2. Individuals or groups of up to 20 people may enter as a team.
Overview
- Apply – Participation requires each individual or team to submit an application by Monday, October 2 at 5 p.m.
- Decorate – Show your spirit by decorating a banner for Homecoming.
- Submit – Submit your banner to the Student Organizations Office by Thursday, October 5 at noon.
- Win – Our judges will select finalists. Winners will be chosen from a poll on social media and notified the week of Homecoming.

Competition Guidelines:
- Banners must be completed, fully dry, and submitted to the Student Life office on your campus by noon on Thursday, October 5.
- Names of individual participants, student organizations, or departments should be displayed clearly on your banner.
- Banners must showcase Georgia State’s spirit.
Banners will be judged on the following:
- Theme 15%
- Impact 15%
- Creativity 20%
- Skill 25%
- Originality 25%
Winners will receive homecoming spirit prizes.
Notes:
- You will only be provided with a banner to decorate. Banners can be picked up at your campus Student Organizations or Student Life office starting Monday, September 11. The banner material will be a twin-sized bed sheet to be decorated vertically ONLY. Banners that are not vertical will not be accepted and therefore are disqualified.
- Decorations must be two-dimensional. Three-dimensional banners will not be accepted.
- Banners will be hung on the gate outside Center Parc stadium on the Atlanta campus.
- Participants/organizations/departments may only join one team.
- Each team may submit and decorate one banner.
- Banner decorations should reflect Georgia State University Homecoming.
- Banner decorations must be appropriate and consistent with Georgia State University’s policy on workplace standards.
- Entries containing material deemed offensive by the judging committee will be disqualified.
- Winners will be notified on Wednesday, October 11, via email.
- Winners will be announced on social media.
- Prizes will be a range of varying GSU Homecoming prize packs.
- Decorations will be removed on Monday, October 16 and available for pick up until Friday, October 20 at your Student Life office, after which they will be disposed of.
